OPI ~ Flower to Flower

A simple swatch is all I have for you my lovelies, and after a long absence too!

I feel really bad about the way I have been neglecting my blog, but I promise that once things calm down I will attempt to be a bit more creative :)

This Barbie pink beauty is OPI Flower to Flower, and although at first I felt it toed the line to “old-lady-in-the-office” land, I must admit that after wearing it for a couple of days (yes, it is true. I wear the same mani more than one day nowadays. The shame. The shame!) it grew on me.

The silver shimmer in an otherwise ordinary looking pink really lifts this polish and makes it very pretty. I needed two coats and they were very easy to apply.

Spring Challenge: Bugs

I know I am way behind with the Spring Challenge, but since it’s such a fun one I really want to finish all the themes. Today I tackled the Bugs theme, and decided to pick the Blue and Purple colour combination.

I painted my base with 17 Peacock and added a dragonfly with acrylic paints. To make it a bit prettier I put some rhine-stones on the body and painted the wings with opalescent glitter.

Colour Combinations Left

Pink and Green
Blue and Purple
Yellow and Green
Orange and Pink

Comparison: OPI ~ Hot & Spicy, and China Glaze ~ Life Preserver

I think orange is such a lovely summer colour! I had been wondering for some time if maybe OPI Hot & Spicy and China Glaze Life Preserver were near dupes, so I decided to do a comparison for them.

After swatching I can definitely say that they belong in the same burnished orange family, but they are more different than first impressions led me to believe.

The formula on both polishes is ok, but nothing to write home about. The China Glaze polish wins in my book, as I found it to apply smoother and less streaky than the OPI.

Christmas in May

Sometimes things don’t quite work out to plan. Take this for instance – a lovely, deep red that begged to be worn, but I deemed needed some companion stamping. One browse through plates later and a pattern has been picked. Colour. Which to pick. White would look nice!

Stamping done, not too shabby! A fairly clean stamping, if a little squint.

Then the realisation hits – I have just made my accent nail into a Christmas present. Not exactly what I wanted for May, but never the less, here it is.

The pretty red is George Shock, and I just love it!
