China Glaze ~ Jolly Holly

It is no secret that I’m a total sucker for green. And China Glaze Jolly Holly is one of my absolute, absolute favourites. It definitely has “save from a burning building” status.

My favourite kind of green leans yellow rather than blue, just like Jolly Holly. It is perfect in every way, and I love it.

This polish was, I believe, a limited edition for the Holidays a few years back, and I treasure every drop.

Review: Born Pretty Store ~ Image Plate m88

After trying the Kand plate from Born Pretty Store, I was really curious to see how the smaller, “Konad” plates were. I got plate m88, which is super cute and very unusual in that it has a couple of really large images, and some smaller ones.

The plate comes with the usual protective plastic, and it’s pure metal, with no backing, much like the first series of Bundle Monster.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried the plate out. The plate is perfectly cut, and the image transferred beautifully. I chose to put parts of the long bamboo on all nails except my ring finger, which got a two toned accent from the smaller bamboo with flowers. I also added the little butterfly in pink on the same finger.

I’m very pleased with the plate, and would not hesitate to recommend it. It sells for $2.99 with free international shipping, and that’s pretty great I would say.

The kind people at Born Pretty Store are even offering a 10% discount if you use the code below.

a-England ~ Iseult

I first saw this polish over at The Polished Perfectionist’s blog, and knew I had to have it. It’s such a gorgeous, light pink shimmer. Just the kind of polish I love.

The sad thing is, that the formula is a huge let-down for me. I had to use way too many coats, and even with plenty of time in between each one, and a finishing layer of quick dry top coat, it just wouldn’t dry. It stayed dentable until I removed it the following day. I’m used to the lovely formula of a-England, so this was disappointing. What’s not disappointing however, is the shade itself. It’s just as gorgeous as I hoped for!

Kleancolor ~ Metallic White

When I showed my little Kleancolor haul post yesterday, Lizzy and Rutan particularly wanted to see Metallic White, so here we go :)

I’m not sure I would say that the polish is very “metallic”, it’s more like a silvery glitter, but pretty none the less! The formula was very easy to work with, and I used three, easily applied coats to get a result I was happy with. In certain lights there was a slight VNL to be seen, but nothing that bothered me at all. The polish dried nice and quickly. The only drawback is the very odd smell. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but it smells more like “paint” than nailpolish.

Nail Mail

I have never done a haul post, and to be honest I’m not sure if this is something you want to see? When I received my Kleancolor order I thought the bottles were too pretty to not share with you. I hope you like the shades as much as I do! Please let me know if there are any polishes in particular you would like to see swatched first.

Firework, Chunky Holo Black, Chunky Holo Bluebell, Pastel Pink

Metallic Mango, Metallic Orange, Bite Me, Metallic White

Military Green, Metallic Green, Holo Green, Holiday Jingle

a-England ~ Perceval

Sometimes I do like a good red. And they don’t get much better than a-England Perceval. Beautifully shimmery, metallic red goodness, that applied nicely in two coats. Super shiny without top coat, as you can see from the pictures.

Color Club ~ Raspberry Rush

What better way to try to hang on to a little bit of summer than with a hot pink?

Color Club Raspberry Rush is a very scented, and very bright, pink. Love it! The formula is good too, I had to paint 2 coats for even coverage.

Three Nail Challenge: Day 3 ~ Futuristic

For this theme I knew I had to do something metallic and silvery. Because everyone knows that in a hundred years’ time we will all walk around in silver jump suits. Fact.

I did a simple mani with a base in blueish-grey with a green metallic “lightning” stamp. It looked pretty cool in person, but was hard to capture on camera.

Stamping Sunday: Poisonous

I love poisonous colours on nails! One of my all time fave manis (my own ones that is), is Poisonous Dots.

I knew I wanted to do something in the same category for today’s stamping challenge, but I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed with the result. Actually, that’s an understatement. I think it’s a big, fat fail. I think mainly because the colour I picked for stamping (China Glaze Flying Dragon), which I thought would show purple, looks brown on my nails. Booo.

Layered Pink Cheetah

Lately I’m totally loving the cling film method, and today I decided to combine it with stamping to get some depth to the nails.

I painted my nails with a bright, deep pink and “cling filmed” with a light lilac polish. Then I stamped the cheetah print with purple and grey, and painted over with a light pink glitter. Finally I stamped the cheetah print again, this time in white.

Three Nail Challenge: Day 2 ~ Modern Art

For the next part in the challenge the theme is “Ultra Modern”. For me modern means minimalistic, and in all fairness it may not be the most fun thing to do on nails. At least I couldn’t really think of anything that would be interesting. So I settled for some kind of modern art inspired mani.

The base is Nina Ultra Pro French White, and the yellow, blue and red are 17 Go Go, Barry M Cyan Blue and Revlon Revlon Red.

Red Roses

I got a new stamper today. It’s an XL stamper, the really soft, sticky kind. I have to say I’m not a very gadgety person, I believe that you don’t necessarily need lots of stuff to have fun with nails. That being said, I think I’m a little bit in love with this amazing piece of equipment. It picked up and stamped absolutely beautifully. I’m very, very pleased.

My nails have quite a prominent c-curve, and that can make it hard to stamp at times. Not so with this baby!

For my base I used OPI Skull and Glossbones, which definitely has favourite status shade wise, but not formula wise. The roses are stamped with Revlon Revlon Red, and the image is from Bundle Monster BM323.

The smudging you can see is actually not top coat drag, but sloppy scraping *hangs head in shame*

Three Nail Challenge: Day 1 ~ Antique Flowers

I have joined another challenge. I love doing challenges! The theme for this challenge is really unusual and creative. It’s a set of 3x3 challenges:

TIME
1. Antique
2. Ultra Modern
3. Futuristic

FAVOURITES
1. Favourite song
2. Favourite book
3. Favourite emotion

ADJECTIVES
1. Soft
2. Edgy
3. Wavy

For the first challenge theme, which is antique, I wasn’t sure what to do. Then I thought of this amazing design I saw Robin Moses do on youtube, and decided to have a go.

The base is Nina Ultra Pro Satin Doll, and the designs are made with newspaper and acrylic paints.
